Making Progress
I had a doctor appointment today via phone – that was a first. I did something wrong to my left foot a few weeks ago, aggravated it again this past Monday, and finally gave in to Big Sister’s pressure to call and see if someone could tell me what I did wrong. (With the foot. Otherwise, that topic would take a lifetime to cover and I don’t have the time for that!)
I answered a lot of questions, agreed that I was probably the healthiest person the doctor will talk to this month, and decided it was just a strain or strain or pull of something (all very non-specific). Which was exactly what I had predicted, so I feel vindicated in ignoring it all in the first place.
But while that was going on, the rat colony in my attic continues to be active. I got the HOA to agree that I could put my access hatch into the attic wherever I wanted it, so it goes into the short hallway space in front of the bathroom door. Most units have it inside a closet, which always seemed to me to be a stupid place to put it.
You have to move your clothing and whatever is on the shelves in order to gain access. Some insulation will fall out of the attic no matter how carefully one climbs in there. Insulation will get on your clothing no matter where you move it to. And whoever crawls in there has to manouever around the closet rack, the shelf, and the closet door in order to squeeze through a too-narrow opening.
Well, I’m having none of that. You will be able to climb straight up a ladder, pop the hatch, and ascend into the Rat World without having to move clothes, unpack shelves, worry about insulation drift, or contort your body around doors and shelves.
And while the contractor is here to create the access, he will also listen to my ideas for the bathroom and give me feedback on what is doable and what sounds crazy. I have no idea what I’m doing with a remodel, I’ve never done one before, but I have *ideas*! Now that I have a specific date when he will be here to talk about it, I will have to crack down and get some concrete thoughts and sketches down on paper. This will be fun!
